In the - probably unlikely - event that you have a wife who's about to give birth any time now, you may still be searching for a name for the expected new arrival.  And, in case it turns out to be a boy, what better source of ideas could you have than looking through some of the past models on your favourite (unbeknownst to the wife!) website HMBoys.com?

Just to take names in the range from A to C, for example, you'll find "Adomas", "Arnost", Baltus", "Boyra", "Carwyn" and "Celio" - all perfectly respectable names, no doubt, in Turkmenistan, Ecuador or Papua New Guinea, but unfortunately sounding more like obscure cigarette brands to us English-speakers.

So what a relief it is to come across (no sniggering, please!) this week's HMBoy Kevin.  What a nice, pleasant, easy-to-pronounce and just ordinary name that is.

And Kevin, it turns out, is quite an ordinary boy, too.  He gets up to all the usual things that kids his age - that's 18 - do all the time.  He goes to school, plays sports, enjoys bowling or pool for fun and goes camping (didn't I warn you about those sniggers?).  Secretly, too, he's been known to take the odd unauthorised day off school, smoke a few cigarettes (though he doesn't much like the taste of those Carwyns), drink a few beers and make out with the local girls.

But in one respect, thank goodness, Kevin isn't so ordinary.  Because when he needed a bit of extra cash to buy a cheap car from a friend, he had the good sense to go online and work out how to earn some cash quickly and with minimal effort - and, as he later said, have some fun by trying something new at the same time.

That's, then, how Kevin came to HMBoys - and how we got to see that he's not such an ordinary boy after all.
