Dominic, we could understand... Even Dominik, if he were a little bit off the wall...

But Dominique...?

Doesn't that sound sort of girly?

The sort of name given to one of those over- shoulder-padded villainesses on Dynasty or The Colbys?

But just take a quick look at our HMBoy Dominique - a French kid who's spending a year learning German in Berlin - and you can see that he certainly isn't a girly boy at all.

And he's quick to defend that oddly-spelled name too.

"Dominique is a boy's name in France", he tells us in fluent English (he's already spent a year on London learning the language).

"The last French prime minister was Dominique de Villepin... Then there's the jockey Dominique Boeuf...  Dominique Jen Larrey, the famous surgeon...  Ingres, the famous painter, was a Dominique, too...  And even outside of France, there's Dominique Wilkinds, the famous American basketball player..."

We stop the kid in full flight:  OK, OK - information overload!

But he smiles as he tells us that, weirdly enough, the girlfriend that he went out with in England was also called Dominique - so he concedes that it must be a girl's name too.

And it turns out that it was girlfriend Dominiqure who first suggested that he get into porn to help pay for his English classes.

"The funny thing was that she wanted to be involved too", he laughs.

"She said she'd help to train me - so I bent over the end of the bed and then she got this enormous plastic dildo that she strapped right around her waist and then - "
