Here at HMBoys.com we're a pretty urban set of guys.

We can't be separated for too long from the attractions of city life.

So whenever we have to go out to the sticks to photograph some cute boy who's applied to model for us, we make sure we find out in advance where, in the hours of daylight, we might find the nearest Starbucks and whether, for our evening entertainment, there's a gay bar within at most an hour's drive.

But this week's HMBoy is just about as rural as they come.

He's never been to a gay bar in his life...

...and it wouldn't have surprised us to find out that he thought that Starbucks was the fee we were going to pay him.

Fortunately, though, the fact that he's such a country boy meant that he knew every inch of the woods around his small town and was able to take us to a spot that wasn't too overgrown - so leaving plenty of light for our cameras - but was still far enough off the beaten track to ensure some privacy.

Living in the sticks, as he does, however, the one thing he was worried about was being identified within his small, isolated community - so he insisted that we'd have to make up a name for him on the website.

When we got back to the office, the boss came up with one of his rare quips about the photographs - something about being able to see the wood (if you follow me) in spite of all the trees.

And the setting of all those trees gave us the idea for the name we're using for this kid.

There aren't exactly many types of tree that lend themselves to being used for boys' names: only Sarah Palin (whose named her eldest son Track!) might be tempted to call a kid Oak or Beech or Willow or Maple...

But we've decided on Rowan.

Because, according to Wikipedia, the Rowan tree was traditional the source of wood for making dowsing rods and magicians' wands - and so, looking at the magical wand between our boy's legs (Abracadabra!  See how it grows!), it seems like a very suitable name indeed...
